Tems: Soul Without Borders — “What You Need” and the “Me & U” Remix

Tems has built a sound that travels without losing its Nigerian roots. The singer, songwriter and producer—born Temilade Openiyi—brings R&B, soul and African influences into her own lane. Her appearance on Wizkid’s “Essence” introduced that voice to a wider audience; projects such as For Broken Ears and Born in the Wild give listeners more of her world.

For RAPFRICAN readers catching up with her current music, start with “What You Need.” The song appears on Love Is a Kingdom, the project currently promoted on her official website. Its official video offers a visual entry point into that chapter.

Also check out “Me & U (Sammy Virji Remix).” The official audio pairs Tems with the British producer, giving fans another version of a familiar favorite. It is a remix release—not a newly written Tems solo single.
